A Dutch school choose to integrate Vedic culture

The theme for the school camping in Boxtel's Jenaplan ' Oosterse Sprookjes' the fairy tales of the East was made real and lively by the participation of the Platform Bhutanese and Vedic Cultural Integration in The Netherlands. 'Your participation made throughout the three days program the most ineteresting one' commented later during a talk by one of the teachers and expressed to organise the camping together next year too.
Fairy tales are normally taken as fictive and some how having to look like  ghostly features, wearing fancy dress and painting the face to look terrible. Stories are told to the children of having such existence and children were also to imitate the fairies.

Against this background of teaching children, a method to learn by doing, integrating the Vedic cultural way of imparting the knowledge added more value to the system of understanding. This Platform was invited, in which Chandra took the active role, we immidiately agreed to support with our resources. Then we agreed in certain points too according the Vedic way of living. The teachers agreed too, ie to partake in vegetarian meal and Vedic cultural dressing as well as singing the hymns that pacify the existence and make things pure. 'Its interesting' was the reaction.

Accordingly the meals were prepared in the Vedic ways of cooking, ie only vegetarian, excluding onion and garlic. We could do the shopping ourselves so we know what to buy for that. Although onion and garlic may have medicinal values and would make the curry tasty, without that too, is possible to make the preparations tasty and transcendental. Onion and galic raises the body temperature unnecesserily and agitates the carnal desires. Children gets over- active and thus avoiding these two things in our eating habit help one maintain the  physical as well as mental balance. That is essential for the spititual development.

This platform has pots and pans sufficient to cook for about a hundred people. We took it to the camp area which is a place in a farming community. We prepared very delicious vegetarian meal ie rice, loempia, curry, roti, sabji, noodles, soup and tea and many more, differently throughout  the three days. Meal will have more taste, it would even taste divine when it is prepared with love and to satisfy the one who supplied the grains and other ingredients origianlly. Factully the God created these food items, no one can manufacture grains like rice, wheat etc in the factory or laboratories however one may be a scientist or engineers who could manufacture aeroplanes or other wonderful modern machines. So the Vedic system is, cook keeping in mind of the Supreme one who created the ingredients for our food, and serve Him first. If this creator likes your purity in coocking and serving, and if he accepts your offer, then these food recepie will regain the real taste. This method was introduced to the other teachers too. The meal becomes Karma-free. Everybody found our coocking the best one and even the director of the school who heard this techniques came to taste the meal next day.

Children loved to dress themselves that covers their body fully with sari and dhoti. They looked very preety too. Then some Vedic Hymns were chanted before they go to sleep as part of meditation. They sang, Hare Krishna Hare Krishna, Krishna Krishna Hare Hare. Hare Rama Hare Rama, Ram Rama Hare Hare. All this was wonderful. The Eastern fairy became reality to experiance.

Integrating demands the need for giving and taking and this should be done with love. Everyone of us are the soul in proper so, looking on the level of the body is avoided in the Vedic culture. We see all as the one human family, one human race. This vision to develop is essential for the peace and communal harmoney. This paltform offers this type of service to anyone interested to engage us and holds every 3rd Saturdays program where anyone can come in and take part in the multicultural event, take vegetarian meal and be happy.
